Celebrating the successful completion of a five-week field training program where SUA students are crowned as Syntropic Agroforestry Champions after gaining hands-on experience and establishing seven demonstration plots.
At MyBirthdayTree Organization (MBTO), we are proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone as we officially crown a group of dedicated field students from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) as Syntropic Agroforestry Champions.
Over the course of five weeks, these passionate young individuals fully immersed themselves in both theory and practice, gaining a deep understanding of syntropic agroforestry—Kilimo Msitu Chakula—a sustainable farming system inspired by natural forest ecosystems. What began as a learning opportunity quickly transformed into a journey of growth, discovery, and meaningful impact.
Through their commitment and teamwork, the students successfully established seven syntropic demonstration plots, putting their knowledge into action. These plots now stand as living examples of how agriculture can work in harmony with nature—restoring soil health, enhancing biodiversity, and improving productivity without reliance on chemicals.
This achievement is more than just the completion of a training program. It is a celebration of dedication, resilience, and the rise of a new generation of environmental leaders. As champions of syntropic agroforestry, these students are now equipped to inspire change, support local farmers, and contribute to building more sustainable and food-secure communities.
We are incredibly proud of their journey and excited to see the impact they will create beyond this program.
